| Robert Roeder was a Professor of History
at the University of Denver from 1962 until 1995. He served as chair
of the History Department during the 1985-1986 school year. In the
fall of 1986 he became the Venture Chair for the faculty of the
Arts and Humanities, a position in which he was responsible for
generating grant proposals and coordinating grant projects. He also
co-directed a major National Endowment for the Humanities grant.
Roeder was instrumental in developing the Core Curriculum program
at the University, and served as coordinator of the "Civilizations
Compared" component of that program.
In 1990, Roeder took on the role of Special Assistant
to the Provost for a University-wide strategic planning initiative.
Together with Catherine (Kitty) Sweeney, he established an office
that provided secretarial and research support to the Coordinating
Committee for Strategic Planning. The office gathered statistics
and reference materials for the Committee and its subcommittees,
scheduled meetings, compiled minutes and handled other administrative
functions.
